Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 to 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 to 2 Tbsp. ground ginger
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. molasses
1 c. hot water
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients together.
Cream shortening with sugar until fluffy.
Add egg.
Beat until light and fluffy.
Beat in molasses.
Slowly beat in flour mixture alternately with hot water.
Pour into well-greased pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 45 minutes or until center is firm.
