German-Style Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 small head red cabbage
    2 tart red apples, cored but not peeled
    2 Tbsp. bacon fat
    salt and ground pepper to taste
    water
    3 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. flour
Preparation
    Remove outer leaves, cut cabbage in quarters, core and grate into skillet.
    Slice the apples; add to cabbage.
    Add fat, salt and pepper; bring to a boil with just enough water to cover. Reduce heat to simmer until tender, 20 minutes.
    Drain, reserving the liquid.
