Peas And Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 can peas (pigeon or black-eyed)
    1 qt. rice
    1 1/2 pt. water
    2 tomatoes
    1 large onion
    small piece pork fat
    thyme, garlic, salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Fry together the onion, tomatoes and seasoning in pork fat for 15 minutes. Add 1 1/2 pints water and peas. Simmer 15 more minutes. Add 1 quart rice and simmer for 45 to 60 minutes on low flame.
