Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    25 to 30 medium cucumbers
    2 sweet peppers
    8 large onions
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. sugar
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    2 tsp. mustard seed
    5 c. vinegar (full strength)
Preparation
    Wrap turmeric, cloves and mustard seeds in cloth. Wash cucumber and slice as thin as possible.
    Chop onions and peppers. Combine the three with salt and let stand for 3 hours, then drain. Combine vinegar, sugar and spices in a large kettle. Bring to a boil and add cucumber mixture
    and heat to a boil. Pack and seal in jars.
