Edmunds' Family Welsh Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    2 1/2 sticks butter
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. currants
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1 egg
    3 Tbsp. milk
Preparation
    Mix flour, baking powder and salt.
    Cut in cold butter slices, then squish by hand to mix until fluffy.
    In separate bowl, beat egg and milk together.
    Stir into flour mixture, forming a sort of pastry dough.
    Roll dough into log and cut into 20 slices.
    Heat electric skillet to 340\u00b0 (\"pancake\").
    Cook each slice 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
    Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar after first turn on griddle.
    Use no oil.
    Makes 20 cakes.
