Martha Patch'S Buttermilk Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and beat.
    Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk until creamy and fluffy. Add vanilla.
    Bake in layer cake pans at 375\u00b0.
    Frost with butter icing.
