"Fanny Farmer" Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2/3 c. evaporated milk
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Butter an 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan or 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
    In 1 1/2-quart saucepan, combine sugar and milk.
    Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
    Boil 5 minutes, counting time from when boiling is reached.
    Remove from heat; stir in butter and chocolate chips until well blended.
    Stir in vanilla and walnuts.
    Beat 1 minute.
    Pour into buttered pan.
    Refrigerate until hardened.
    Cut into squares.
