Red Clam Sauce(Low-Fat) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. onions, chopped
    12 oz. mushrooms, sliced
    6 cloves garlic, crushed
    2 Tbsp. olive oil
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. black pepper
    1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
    1 (10 1/2 oz.) can tomato puree
    4 (6.5 oz. each) cans clams, minced (with juice)
Preparation
    In a 4-quart saucepan, saute the onions, mushrooms and garlic in the oil over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes or until onions are translucent.
    Add remaining ingredients and cook, covered, for about 45 minutes.
    Makes about 8 cups. Serve over your choice of pasta.
    Freezes well.
