Buttermilk Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. Crisco
    3 1/4 c. flour, sifted
    1/4 tsp. soda
    3 Tbsp. boiling water
    2 tsp. vanilla
    chopped nuts (optional)
    3 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    6 eggs, separated
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. butter flavoring
Preparation
    Grease 10-inch tube pan and sprinkle with chopped nuts. Dissolve soda in water; cool.
    Cream Crisco and sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolks one at a time; beat well after each addition.
    Add soda water.
    Sift flour and salt.
    Add alternately with buttermilk and flavorings.
    Beat egg whites until stiff; add to batter, folding in gently.
