Apricot Buttons - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. dried apricots
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 egg yolk
    1 c. flour
    1 unbeaten egg white
    1/3 c. sugar
    1/3 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. salt
    chopped nuts
Preparation
    Rinse apricots with cold water.
    Cover with water and cook until very tender.
    Mash through a coarse sieve and add 1/3 cup sugar.
    Cook slowly until thick, stirring constantly.
    Cool.
