Princess Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. cake flour
    1/2 c. finely chopped pecans
    1/2 c. coconut
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    5 Tbsp. butter
    pinch of salt
    1 Tbsp. maple flavoring
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. chopped dates or figs
    1/4 c. water
Preparation
    Filling:
    Cook dates with 1 Tbsp. butter and 1/4 c. water on medium heat for about 20 minutes, stir often.
    Set aside to cool.
