Sweet Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. cucumbers, cut 1-inch thick
    1 qt. vinegar
    3 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. whole mustard seed
    2 Tbsp. canning salt
    2 tsp. alum
    turmeric to suit taste
Preparation
    Mix vinegar, sugar, mustard seed, salt, alum and turmeric in a large kettle.
    Bring to a good rolling boil and add cucumbers and boil until they turn white.
    Add dill to the jar bottoms, fill and seal while hot.
    Onion rings are delicious with them also.
