Midnight Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening (not oil)
1 1/2 c. sugar (white)
2 eggs
1/2 c. cocoa
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream shortening.
Add sugar gradually and cream until fluffy. Blend in well beaten eggs.
Slowly add hot water to cocoa and mix until smooth.
Stir to dissolve completely.
Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and soda.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with the cocoa mix.
Add vanilla.
Bake in 8-inch square pan for 50 minutes in 350\u00b0 oven.
Done when it springs back to the touch or toothpick comes out clean when put in middle.
