Japanese Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2/3 c. nuts, chopped
    2/3 c. raisins, chopped
    3/4 tsp. cinnamon
    3/4 tsp. allspice
    3/4 tsp. mace
    1/2 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    For success, do this first:
    Have ingredients room temperature.
    In hot weather, use buttermilk and eggs directly from refrigerator.
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease and dust with flour 3 round layer pans, 9 x 1 1/2-inch.
