Ingredients

1/2 lb. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 2/3 c. plain flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sweet milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Grease three 8-inch cake pans.
Set oven to 375\u00b0.
Cream the butter and sugar well; add egg yolks.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
Add alternately with milk, then add vanilla. Beat egg whites until stiff; fold into mixture.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
