Date And Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 eggs
    2 c. white sugar
    2 Tbsp. butter or oleo
    2 1/4 c. sifted flour
    pinch of salt
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. chopped dates
    2 c. boiling water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Boil water and remove from stove.
    Add dates and soda.
    Let stand.
    Beat butter and sugar.
    Add eggs and beat.
    Add vanilla, then dry ingredients.
    Mix well.
    Add date mixture and nuts.
    Fill greased and floured pans half full.
    Bake 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
    Makes 2 loaves, 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch pans.
