Punch Bowl Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box yellow cake mix
    1 (No. 2 1/2 size) can crushed pineapple
    1 c. chopped pecans
    1 can cherry pie filling
    1 large Cool Whip or 2 pkg. Dream Whip
    1 large box vanilla pudding mix
Preparation
    Bake cake according to directions, using 2 round pans or sheet pan.
    Let cake cool.
    Cut in half if sheet pan.
    Crumble one of the cake halves in bottom of punch bowl.
    Mix together pineapple, pecans and pie filling.
    Layer half of mixture on cake crumbs. Prepare pudding and pour 1/2 over fruit.
    Crumble other half of cake layer, remaining fruit, then remaining pudding.
    Spread Cool Whip on top.
    Sprinkle with nuts or coconut.
