Kringla - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. sugar
pinch of salt
1 heaping Tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. soda
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
nutmeg according to taste
1 c. sour cream
1 lb. butter
1 lb. brown sugar
2 c. white sugar
8 unbeaten eggs
4 full tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond extract
8 c. flour
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 to 2 tsp. whiskey
8 eggs
2 lb. powdered sugar
butter the size of an egg
3 Tbsp. milk
few drops anise oil
grated rind of lemon
1 to 2 Tbsp. whiskey (if desired)
6 or more c. flour
2 Tbsp. baking powder
Preparation
-
Mix in order given.
Dough should be stiff enough not to be sticky.
Let rest for 30 minutes or so.
Roll out, print, cut and set on greased cookie sheet on which you have sprinkled anise seed. Leave in a cool place overnight to dry.
Cover lightly or not at all.
Bake in the a.m. at 350\u00b0 until light brown.
