Fried Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. mashed potatoes
    4 Tbsp. shortening
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    3 tsp. baking powder
    3 1/2 c. flour
Preparation
    Mix together ingredients.
    Roll out 1/2-inch thick.
    Cut with donut cutter; let rest 15 minutes.
    Put into hot oil (365\u00b0 to 375\u00b0).
    Turn when light brown.
