Cherry Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    6 egg whites, beaten until frothy
    2 c. soda crackers, crumbled
    3/4 c. chopped walnuts
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Add sugar and cream of tartar gradually to egg whites; beat until stiff.
    Fold in soda crackers.
    Add nuts and vanilla. Spread in long cake pan.
    Bake 25 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Let cool. Cover with whipped cream or Dream Whip.
    Spread cherry pie filling over top.
