Company Best Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 medium cucumbers
    8 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. salt
    4 c. cider vinegar
Preparation
    Place whole cucumbers in a glass or stoneware jar.
    Cover with boiling water.
    Let stand overnight. Drain.
    Repeat 3 days.
    On the fifth day, drain and slice cucumber in 1/2-inch pieces. Combine sugar, spices, salt and vinegar.
    Bring to a boil and pour over cucumbers. Let stand 2 days.
    On the third day, bring to a boil.
    Pack in hot jars and seal.
    Yields 7 pints.
