Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
3 egg whites
5 egg yolks
1/3 level tsp. salt
juice and grated rind of 1 orange
2 c. flour
1/2 c. water
1 1/2 level tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Beat the butter and sugar to a cream; add the egg yolks and water, then the juice and rind of the orange; next, the flour, salt and baking powder sifted together, and fold in very gently the stiffly-beaten whites of the eggs.
Bake twenty minutes in a hot oven in layer-cake pans, and put the layers together with orange and coconut filling.
