Cherry Nut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/3 c. sugar
    2 1/8 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. cherry juice
    1/2 c. milk
    4 unbeaten egg whites
    16 maraschino cherries
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add dry ingredients alternately with cherry juice and milk.
    Beat two minutes.
    Add egg whites and beat two more minutes.
    Fold in cherries and nuts.
    Bake in sprayed 9 x 13 pan for 30 to 35 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Cool and frost.
