Beef Stroganoff - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. beef sirloin
    flour
    1/3 c. butter or oil
    3 medium onions, chopped
    1/2 lb. mushrooms, sliced
    salt and pepper
    2/3 c. tomato juice
    1/2 c. sherry
    1 1/2 c. water
    2/3 c. sour cream
Preparation
    Cut meat in thin strips; dredge with flour.
    Brown quickly in skillet in half the butter.
    Remove the meat; add remaining butter.
    Add onions and mushrooms; cook 5 minutes.
    Add meat with salt and pepper.
    Add tomato juice, wine and water.
    Bring to boil; reduce heat, cover and simmer 2 hours or until meat is tender.
    Season to taste; stir in sour cream and serve.
    Excellent with wild rice.
    Serves 4.
