Mother'S Sugarless, Eggless, Butterless, Milkless Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. soda
    boiling water
    1 c. molasses
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 c. nuts (optional)
Preparation
    Put first 5 ingredients in a 1 cup measuring cup.
    Fill rest of cup with boiling water.
    Empty this into a bowl containing molasses.
    Sift in flour.
    Mix well.
    Add nuts, if desired.
    Bake in greased pan or iron skillet at 350\u00b0 for 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
    Serve hot with butter or cold with dried fruit.
    Also, good baked in muffin pans.
