Scalloped Squash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 to 10 medium yellow summer squash
    1 large onion, diced
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. melted butter
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. fresh bread crumbs
    2 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese, divided
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease a 2 1/2-quart casserole.
    Wash squash and cut 3/4-inch cubes.
    Cook in a saucepan with onion in a small amount of salted water until tender, approximately 10 minutes.
    Drain and place in a casserole.
    In a bowl, mix egg, pepper, milk, butter, salt, crumbs and 1 cup cheese.
    Pour over squash and lightly blend.
    Sprinkle with remaining cup of cheese. Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 30 minutes.
    Serves 8 to 10.
