Crisp Cucumber Pickle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 lb. sliced cucumbers
    water
    1 qt. pickle lime
    1 box alum
    water
    3 qt. vinegar
    10 lb. sugar
    pickling spice
Preparation
    Cover cucumbers with water and pickle lime.
    Let stand 12 to 14 hours.
    Wash and drain and cover with a strong solution of salt water.
    Let stand 4 hours.
    Drain and wash with fresh water and let stand in fresh water 2 hours.
    Make a strong solution of alum and water; put in cucumbers and let come to a boil.
    Drain and wash with hot water.
    Put pickling spice in cheesecloth and tie so they do not come out.
    Combine vinegar and sugar along with the spices.
    Put in cucumbers and boil 30 minutes.
    Put in jars and let cool before putting top on.
