Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. (2 sticks) butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation

Cream the butter and sugar.
Mix in egg and flavorings.
Add blended dry ingredients.
Refrigerate 2 to 3 hours.
Roll dough on lightly floured surface and cut with a cookie cutter.
Sprinkle with granulated sugar and, if desired, decorate with colored sprinkles, red hots, etc.
Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet in a 375\u00b0 oven for 7 to 8 minutes.
Makes 5 dozen.
