A Great Sangria - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. cold water
    1 lemon, lime and orange, thinly sliced
    12 to 14 large ice cubes
    1 (4/5 qt.) bottle red wine (Burgundy or Claret)
Preparation
    Add sugar to cold water and bring to a boil to dissolve sugar quickly.
    Remove from heat and add sliced fruits.
    Cover and let stand for about four hours.
