Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. sliced cukes
    7 to 8 medium onions
    1 red pepper
    1 green pepper
    1/2 c. coarse salt
    1 c. water
    ice cubes
    3 c. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1/2 tsp. ground turmeric
    1/2 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Soak cukes, onions and peppers under ice, at least 3 hours under ice.
    Combine other ingredients and bring to a boil.
    Add vegetables; bring to boiling point, don't boil.
    Fill sterilized jars to overflowing.
    Clean lip of jar and seal.
