Turtle Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box German chocolate cake mix
    12 oz. bag caramels
    1/4 c. evaporated milk
    12 oz. bag chocolate chips
    1 bag nuts (1 1/2 to 2 c.)
Preparation
    Mix cake mix by box directions.
    Pour 3/4 of mix into oblong pan (13 x 9 x 2-inch).
    Bake for 15 minutes.
    Mix caramels with evaporated milk and melt.
    Pour that on top of cake, then place chocolate chips on top.
    Place nuts over chocolate.
    Pour rest of cake mix on top.
    Bake until done (remaining time according to the box directions).
    The toothpick test does not work for doneness on this cake.
