Pot Roast Of Beef - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. flour
    2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/2 tsp. sugar (to help browning)
    1 pkg. Lipton beefy onion soup
    1/2 c. tomato juice
Preparation
    Mix first 4 ingredients together and pat into surface of 4 to 5 pound piece of beef (chuck, shoulders, rump or round).
    Heat a deep, heavy pan over high heat, greasing lightly with shortening. Put in meat and brown thoroughly on all sides.
    Cook with the meat 1 package Lipton beefy onion soup mix with liquid.
    When meat is a deep, dark brown add tomato juice.
    Put on cover and simmer very slowly (about 3 to 4 hours).
    During last hour add cut potatoes and carrots.
