Scented Pinecones - cooking recipe
Ingredients
-
old candles or paraffin
metal saucepan
pinecones (small work best)
paper cupcake liners
cupcake tins
string or twine to act as a wick
Preparation
-
The amount of paraffin or wax needed depends on the number of scented pinecones you make.
Start with just a few to see how much wax is needed.
Melt paraffin.
(Set a small coffee can inside a large pot to use double boiler style.)
Put 2 to 3 in water in larger pot.
Heat pan until water boils and wax melts.
Add food coloring after it's melted.
Place cupcake liners in the tins; put a 4-inch piece of string in each liner.
Fit the pinecones into the cupcake liner.
If the cones are fresh, you will smell the scent from the cones when lit.
If cones are older, add a drop of clove oil or desired scent of your choice to melted paraffin.
Carefully pour melted wax over pinecones into paper liners.
Don't take off liners until the wax cools, at least 2 to 3 hours.
