Pecan Pie Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box yellow cake mix (2/3 c. for topping; I save about 1 c. or a little more)
    1/2 c. melted butter
    1 egg
    1/2 c. dark brown sugar, packed
    2/3 c. reserved cake mix
    1 1/2 c. syrup (regular table syrup or Karo syrup)
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs, well beaten
    1 or 2 c. pecans, ground up
Preparation
    Mix cake mix, 1/2 cup melted butter and one egg.
    Pat mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes or until cake starts to brown a little on bottom.
    Do not let cake get completely done.
