Gumdrop Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar (1 c. white, 1 c. brown)
    2 eggs, well beaten
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. orange extract
    1 1/2 c. applesauce
    4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. raisins
    1 c. white raisins
    2 lb. gumdrops, cut in half (do not use black)
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Mix ingredients in order given.
    Mix well.
    Line pans with waxed paper.
    Makes 2 large loaves or 4 small loaves.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 1/2 hours.
    Cool on rack 5 minutes.
    Peel paper off cakes and allow to cool on rack.
    Brush loaves with brandy if desired.
    Wrap in Saran Wrap, then aluminum foil.
    Keep well refrigerated.
