Banana Nut Loaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/3 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    3 Tbsp. buttermilk
    1 c. mashed ripe bananas
    2 c. sifted, self-rising flour
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pan.
    Mix together the sugar, shortening and eggs thoroughly. Stir in buttermilk, mashed bananas and flour, then stir in soda and fold in nuts.
    Turn batter into prepared pan.
    Bake 50 to 60 minutes.
    Cool in pan for 10 minutes.
    Remove from pan and cool completely.
    Doubles nicely.
