Grandma'S Macaroni And Cheese - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 to 8 c. cooked elbow macaroni (medium size)
    3 to 4 c. Cheddar or Longhorn cheese
    6 to 8 tsp. butter
    3/4 to 1 c. finely crushed saltine crackers
    1/4 to 1/2 c. minced onion (optional)
    2 to 3 c. milk
    salt and pepper to taste
