Pineapple Angel Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. crushed pineapple
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    6 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 c. cool water
    3 egg whites
    1/2 pt. whipped cream
    nuts and maraschino cherries
Preparation
    Combine pineapple (fruit and juice), sugar and salt.
    Bring to a boil.
    Add cornstarch mixed with water and cook until very thick, stirring all the while.
    Cool.
    Beat egg whites and fold in sugar. Fold into pineapple and turn into a baked pie shell.
    Cover with the whipped cream.
    Sprinkle top with chopped nuts and cherries.
