Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 regular Hershey bars
    1 c. finely chopped pecans
    1/2 lb. butter
    1 Tbsp. white Karo syrup
    3 Tbsp. water
    1 c. sugar
Preparation
    In an 8 1/2 x 11-inch pan, sprinkle 1/2 of pecans on bottom. Break Hershey bars into sections; arrange on nuts.
    Set aside. In a heavy saucepan, combine the butter, Karo syrup, water and sugar.
    Cook over medium-low heat to 300\u00b0.
    (It turns from pale yellow to light brown.)
    Pour over chocolate and nut layer. Spread gently to cover.
    Arrange rest of chocolate bars on top; allow to soften for a minute or so and spread.
    May sprinkle 1/2 cup chopped pecans on top.
    Let stand at room temperature.
    Break into pieces.
