Monkey Bread Deluxe - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. lukewarm water
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. scalded milk
    5 or 6 c. flour
    1 yeast cake
    2/3 c. shortening
    1 c. mashed potatoes
    2 eggs, well beaten
Preparation
    Combine milk, potatoes, shortening, sugar and salt in a large mixing bowl.
    Let stand until lukewarm.
    Add yeast, softened in water.
    Add eggs.
    Beat in 1 1/2 cups flour, then add the balance to make a stiff dough.
    Turn out on a board and knead thoroughly. Return to greased bowl and butter top, then let rise 2 hours. Chill in refrigerator, but remove 1 1/2 hours before serving time. Roll dough 1/2 inch thick and cut into 2-inch diamonds.
    Dip each diamond in melted butter and arrange alternately in layers around a well-buttered mold.
    Let rise until double in bulk, then bake at 400\u00b0 for about 20 minutes.
