Pickled Turnips - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 turnips (daikon), peeled and sliced
    1/4 c. less 1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 c. vinegar
    1 c. hot water
    a few drops yellow food color
Preparation
    Cook items for the sauce until the sugar has melted.
    Cool and add to sliced turnips in a jar.
