German Sauerkraut - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 onion
    1 large bag or can sauerkraut
    about 3/4 c. water
    1 Tbsp. caraway seed
    1/2 c. sugar (brown or white)
Preparation
    Saute the onion lightly (not dark) in bacon drippings, about two tablespoons.
    Add the sauerkraut, water, caraway seed and sugar.
    Cook slowly, about 1 hour, until tender.
    Add more sugar to taste.
