Southern Fried Okra - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. cornmeal
1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
3/4 lb. (3 c.) fresh okra, cut in 1/2-inch slices
1/3 c. bacon drippings
Preparation

In a medium bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, salt and pepper. Add okra and toss until well coated.
In a 10-inch skillet, heat enough bacon drippings (about 3 tablespoons) to cover bottom of pan.
Add some okra and cook, turning frequently until crispy and brown.
Drain on paper towels.
Keep warm.
Repeat, adding more bacon drippings as needed.
Makes 6 servings.
