Dorothy'S Light Applesauce Fruitcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. white sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    2 eggs, slightly beaten
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1 pt. hot unsweetened applesauce
    1 c. large raisins
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 c. mixed candied fruit (no peel)
    1 c. nutmeats, coarsely chopped
Preparation
    Cream together sugar and butter.
    Add eggs and beat well. Sift together flour, and salt, set aside.
    Blend baking soda and applesauce (this may foam up suddenly, use a 1-quart pan).
    Add applesauce and flour mixture alternately to creamed mixture.
    Mix well.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Spread into ring pan or loaf pans.
    Decorate with candied fruits and nuts.
    Bake at 300\u00b0 for about 1 hour.
