Coconut Layer Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 c. milk
    2 c. flour
    1/8 tsp. salt
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
Preparation
    Cream the shortening; add sugar slowly.
    Add beaten egg.
    Add flavoring, then flour and baking powder which have been sifted together slowly with milk.
    Beat well and bake in layer tins in moderate oven 12 to 45 minutes.
