Doughnuts With Apples - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 Tbsp. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. nutmeg
    3 eggs
    4 Tbsp. baking powder
    5 c. flour
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    3/4 c. milk
    1 c. drained apples
Preparation
    Cream together shortening and sugar; add eggs 1 at a time and beat after each.
    Sift dry ingredients, then add to creamed mixture.
    Add milk; cut apples in small pieces and add to dough mixture; mix well.
    Drop by teaspoonful into deep fat heated to 375\u00b0.
    Fry 3 minutes, turning once to brown all sides.
    Drain, then roll in confectioners sugar or cinnamon sugar.
