Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    15 oz. box raisins
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. applesauce
    1 c. fig preserves
    3/4 c. Crisco shortening
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    4 c. flour, sifted
    1 1/2 Tbsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. hot water
    2 pkg. black walnuts (optional)
Preparation
    Boil raisins for 20 minutes in 2 cups water.
    Remove from stove and add Crisco and 1 cup cold water.
    Set aside.
