Potato Cheddar Chowder - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. potatoes, diced (1 lb.)
1/4 c. onion, chopped
1 1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. boiling water
1/4 c. butter or margarine
1/4 c. flour
2 c. milk
2 c. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
2 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Preparation

In a medium saucepan combine potatoes, onion, salt and water. Simmer, covered, for 10 minutes; set aside (do not drain).
In another medium saucepan, melt butter.
Stir in flour until smooth. Gradually add milk; blend until smooth.
Simmer, stirring constantly, until thickened.
Remove from heat.
Add cheese; stir until cheese melts.
Add undrained vegetables and Worcestershire sauce.
Heat; do not boil.
Sprinkle with paprika, if desired. Yields 5 cups.
