Banana Bran Loaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 c. bran cereal (not flakes)
    2/3 c. granulated sugar
    2 3/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/3 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. mashed ripe bananas (about 2 large bananas)
    2 eggs, beaten
    1/4 c. milk
    1/2 c. dates, snipped (optional)
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts (optional)
Preparation
    Combine first five ingredients in a large bowl.
    With pastry blender or two knives, cut in butter or margarine until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
    Add next 3 ingredients and, if desired, dates and nuts.
    Mix just until blended.
    Pour into a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
    Bake in a preheated moderate oven (350\u00b0) for 50 to 60 minutes or until done.
    Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then remove to rack to cool completely.
    Makes 1 (9-inch) loaf.
