Irish Colcannon - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 scallions (white part) or leek equivalent
    1 c. milk
    1 tsp. salt
    6 medium potatoes, peeled
    3 Tbsp. butter
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 c. chopped cabbage, cooked or steamed *
    1/4 lb. softened butter or to taste
Preparation
    *Steam cabbage or cook in small amount of water and butter.
